Mac body reads [EBP+8] into ESI and uses it as the UI message: its key code at +0x8 is compared with 0x8 (backspace), 0x1b (escape) and 0xd (enter) to drive the chat line editor; ECX/EDX are only set locally (for the CHAT_Handle*Command calls). Windows twin INPUT_HandleChatCharInput 0x0047ca70 is void (D2UIMouseMsgStrc * pMsg).
